meal plan tuesday

just got back from the store.  i did really good this week. $64.71! which is great because i didn’t do so well last week. my total last week was .22 over budget and i had to dig a quarter out of my purse.  this also didn’t include our easter dinner, which my parents provided most of, but i still had to get some things for dessert. so on sunday i had to borrow $20 from this week’s grocery money for that.  at any rate, i knew in my planning that i was going to need a cheap week so i planned a couple meals out of the freezer, and another casserole that can use some leftover chicken from last week.

so here goes:

  • tuesday: beef stew; sourdough
  • wednesday: hash brown casserole
  • thursday: white chicken chili; sourdough
  • friday: pizza; green beans
  • saturday: hamburgers; carrot sticks; chips
  • sunday: breakfast burritos; hash browns
  • monday: leftovers

i have to make a costco run this week too, but not for many food items, mostly diapers, wipes and pull-ups, and whatever else on the list i can afford after that.  gotta love this budgeting stuff!

2017–week 12

sunday: pinewood derby day! Dave and his committee pulled off a great event. micah’s car turned out not to be very fast, but he did win the “best hot rod” award that the scouts vote on. that was the one he was going for, so he was happy with that. layla and dave both made cars for the charity race. layla’s was meant to be a bobsled. at the community center, a gal from interstate batteries had one of their race cars there for the boys to have their picture take in. and then there was the after party. we didn’t mean to have a party. it just sort of happened. the weather was super nice, and it all started with eric and martin showing up to help dave unload stuff, which he was already done unloading. except they brought beer. and then andrea came, and martin called his wife, so they came, and then layla went and got her friend and her friend’s brothers and parents from down the street (also scouts), we had a few more including my dad show up and it was a party! it was definitely not warm...

2017–week 38

i’m short on pictures this week. not sure how i’ll fix that in the book. may resort to having the kids draw something like i always used to. monday: bonez, under the mistaken impression that he is a lap dog. again. wednesday: our “balloon alarm” was going off in the evening (bonez, barking and howling like a crazy dog) to alert us to 2 very low-flying balloons sailing right over the house. friday: oh dear. these are back in stock at costco. saturday: shane and grant took the samauri up to do some off roading.

week 8 in pictures

okay, this was a weird week. I didn’t take many pictures at all. 3 of the POTDs are vertical (GRRR!!!). I didn’t remember to take the REAL POTDs that I wanted for tuesday OR saturday… so kind of a lame representation of kind of a cool week. dave and I were lucky enough to get TWO date nights this week. on tuesday, we spontaneously decided to ditch the kids after dinner and head out to purple for some dessert and wine. then on saturday, we were given tickets to “the music man” at the 5th ave. it was awesome. a great MOMS night out w/ some awesome MOMS club friends rounded the week out nicely for me! of course, it was mid-winter break for 1 kid, but not the others (yay for 2 different school districts!), and kid #1 was bored out of his mind w/ no school and friends off on trips. anyway… sunday: micah decided he really wanted to sleep with shane. awww… big brother was a good sport and let him stay after he found him in his bed. monday: coffee and bacon. my favorite after-workout snack....

2017–week 35

sunday: gotta love it when the easiest way to clean up your yard work mess is this. tuesday: micah has been all about collecting as much freebie mariners paraphernalia as he can get his hands on (via grandpa). this time he brought him a beard hat. so funny! also tuesday: our own special “balloon alarm” dog. aside from the barking and howling to alert us, he’ll sit right there and stare at it as it sails peacefully by in the distance and is safely out of sight. friday: we’ve been working our way through some home movies in the evenings. we happened upon one of shane playing soccer his first year with the original dynamite team. it was long and boring, but dave loved it! saturday: all the bikes. looks like most of the neighborhood is at our house. also saturday: more excessive blackberry picking. turning all those blackberries into desserts to take to church on sunday. and also chocolate chip cookies. because why not?

week 51 in pictures

sunday: we spent the afternoon at amy and adam’s and micah, of course, was super thrilled to get to play with roscoe and dakota. I love that their entire family is trumped by their dogs. tuesday: today at ballet, the parents were invited in to watch class. it was really hard for me to remain seated on the floor and not jump up and join them at the barre. wednesday: I finally got my current project life caught up, so I could get out my new one for next year! dave chose the “rain” edition for me. so fun to get everything in my hands and take a good look at it. setting up the book is really trippy, not knowing what events will fill those pages. friday: SNOW!!!!! we had enough snow to cause a 2 hour delay for the schools, but we just didn’t go at all. that’s where living out of district is a drag, because our local schools were closed. the kids were out as soon as they could get out, and played all morning. of course, shane’s immediate reaction to having snow on the ground was to get o...
