monday: hannah, layla, and dave, playing some cups before heading to the bay.

saturday: it’s french toast day!!! cooked and cut to perfection by gramma laurie.

monday: layla had some youtube-inspired craft project going on and she needed bottle caps. so she went searching through the house. apparently, she couldn’t come up with enough empty bottles to steal the caps from. well, at least she left a note… right?
tuesday: letitia and family in town, which means we squeezed in a mini-reunion!
thursday: nolan, lisa, and aaron were briefly in town on the tail end of a trip to canada, so they stopped over. sadly, this is the only picture i took. we had a great time. even when nolan broke the toilet.

friday: it’s my birthday!!! so, spud it is! layla threw seaweed on me, so i chased her with a crab claw.

sunday: on our way home from church, we spotted this mama raccoon and her baby down the street from our house. SO cute! mama was not super happy about us looking at them and quickly ran over and put her arms around her baby. adorable.
also sunday: micah had added some interesting ideas to our summer “to-do” list. this accomplished 2 of them. we walked exactly 4 miles on the trail with bonez. (also, balloons!)
monday: aquasox game! another summer list item checked off. (it was FREEZING!)
also monday: layla’s last day to be 11.
tuesday: and she’s 12!!
she had a fun day. starting with picking up a couple of friends and hitting 7-11 for free slurpees. then she helped bake her birthday apple pie, got a new leotard to wear to gymnastics, where she shared cookies with all her teammates. then home to have ribs for dinner, gifts, and pie with ice cream.
also tuesday: shane’s last day to be 17. this was pretty significant, as it was his last day of “childhood”. (i may or may not have been quite ferklempt about this whole thing.) and so the trifecta (peanut, PB, and cocoa) made an appearance for his picture.
wednesday: and shane is 18!! welcome to adulthood! wow.
after dinner out at varlamos (and a gigantic calzone), we came back home for gifts and cookie dough.
thursday: layla got to go with robin and her family to see the seattle symphony’s performance of music from harry potter. she was stoked.
saturday: funnest day ever. bailey wanted to have a little get together for shane’s birthday, and their neighbor niki’s house. everyone had a blast playing with the animals, the zip line, the trampoline, visiting horses, exploring the woods, making s’mores… it culminated with “chariot” races, that had us laughing til we cried. that’s bailey pulling shane.

tuesday: layla marching in the bothell 4th of july parade with the gym.

first week of summer!!!
sunday: it’s “fun sunday”! after church, we had lunch at MOD, then went mini-golfing. it was fun, but WAY hot. we were melting into the astroturf.
monday: leaving to take micah to cub scout day camp and we spot THIS! balloon was landing in a vacant lot just under the freeway. so we totally had to pull over and watch.
tuesday: second day of day camp. i wound up being a volunteer for the rest of the week, so i got to take some pictures. archery is always a favorite, but they also made “rovers” out of old computer parts, and since the theme was “bug hunters”, they had a tent full of ladybugs for them to go in and explore. micah would have stayed there all day.
wednesday: layla’s newest instrument arrived! we are borrowing a saxophone so that she can join jazz band in the fall… because playing the flute, is apparently not enough for her. LOL.
also wednesday: the leader of the shooting range sent this pic of micah and his expert marksmanship!
thursday: last day of scout camp and they finished their “bug suits”. They worked on a part of this every day.
friday: we attempted to go to the beach. and failed. 2 different beaches and ZERO places to park. super lame. and so we went to DQ and got blizzards.
