rachel's continued ramblings

monday: layla had some youtube-inspired craft project going on and she needed bottle caps. so she went searching through the house. apparently, she couldn’t come up with enough empty bottles to steal the caps from. well, at least she left a note… right? tuesday: letitia and family in town, which means we squeezed in a mini-reunion! thursday: nolan, lisa, and aaron were briefly in town on the tail end of a trip to canada, so they stopped over. sadly, this is the only picture i took. we had a great time. even when nolan broke the toilet. also thursday: mega-rips. friday: it’s my birthday!!! so, spud it is! layla threw seaweed on me, so i chased her with a crab claw. my gifts/card from dave. my dad got me bowling shoes! rental bowling shoes! except they’re new. and they belong to me! saturday: hitting the road, early in the morning, heading for california! shasta sighting.

I was a little bit camera happy this week… there will be an insert for all the extras. sunday: seafair sunday!!!! we went to see the blue angels, and just like last time, layla hated it. yes, standing on the freeway with a bazillion other people in the scorching sun is hot, but we brought snacks and water and sunscreen and sunglasses and a blanket to sit on… and yet, even with the totally awesome air show going on, she pouted the WHOLE time. boo hiss. monday:the kids made a ‘nest’. complete with ‘eggs’. apparently bonez thought it looked like a good nest for a dog, and filled the role of mother bird. doesn’t he look maternal and nurturing? wednesday: shane was hanging out at susie and kevin’s, and when we went to pick him up, they wanted us to stay for a glass of wine… which turned into layla and micah wanting to swim… and shane and tony going paddleboarding… and nate photobombing this totally awesome picture of shane on the SUP with layla AND micah hitching a ride. I love this pict...

sunday: when dave’s company moved offices, they got rid of this foosball table. we got it. dave and shane went downtown in the van and loaded it up, but then shane went somewhere else and dave didn’t want to try and unload it by himself (I eventually got recruited). that did not quell micah’s excitement about it at all, and he proceeded to squeeze himself into the back of the van with it and “play” as best he could. we did eventually get it unloaded, and even more eventually, into the house. it now resides in the playroom. monday: first cookout of the summer! wednesday: dave had his first cpl soccer game in the evening, but forgot to bring his shin guards with him in the car. so, good wife that I am, I put my children on a bus (don’t worry, I went too) downtown and brought them to him. the kids thought it was awesome to ride the bus into the city (I learned quickly that we spend WAY too much time out in the sticks – you know, because that’s where we live - as they kept shouting excit...

sunday: showing off the balloon animals they got at the obliteride finish line party at magnuson park. monday: shane’s first EVER football practice! tuesday: they heard the ice cream truck, actually scrounged up enough money to buy something, and successfully stopped it! (I was mean because we had to leave right after this to get shane to practice, and I didn’t want them eating popsicles in the hot car, so I made them put them in the freezer until after dinner. the up side of that was that micah didn’t want to eat his dinner [big surprise there], but I threatened to eat his popsicle and he choked it down in minutes! I need to find more ways to exploit this!) wednesday: layla FINALLY got her long, tangly hair cut. she was very nervous and kind of mad at me about the whole thing, but the salon experience was fun (thanks for the recommendation, lisa), the stylist was vey nice and gave her cute heart braids, and she got about 4 inches taken off with some long layers added in. it looks S...
