Disk golf, honor band, Battle in Bellevue, and getting ready for crossover.

2017–week 43

this was apparently a very odd week for picture taking. as in, i didn’t. but i did take one walk with the dog on friday, in which i was struck by the blueness of the sky and the awesome fall colors in my neighborhood, and so i couldn’t take 5 steps without stopping to pull out my phone to photograph some pretty tree. fortunately, when paired up, these pics resulted in exactly the right number i needed for the week. but first: sunday: pack meeting for micah. getting his advancements for the summer/fall from mr. smith. and a visit from the fire department. friday: it was so nice out, and warm even, that the kids decided to take their books to “the rock” to do their reading. i decided to walk the dog. and that’s all she wrote.

2017–week 39

sunday: another year of selling popcorn outside of walmart. also sunday: there used to be this guy who lived 2 doors down from my parents who would water his lawn every evening by sitting in a lawn chair with a beer and the hose. layla has always thought that story was hilarious. tuesday: she actually got the basketball stuck up there. wednesday: almost every evening, we watch a show after the kids go to bed. and almost every evening, i fall asleep on the couch. this night, i was determined to stay awake, so i had some tea after dinner… this was dave’s response to that. friday: the trees at the library always have such amazing color. saturday: senior year homecoming! shane and bailey, and their friends, had an interesting time getting pictures taken… it was POURING rain. eventually it let up enough to make getting to the gazebo down the path manageable. everyone was freezing and a little wet! shane borrowed a big fancy truck from one of his bosses for the occasion.

2017–week 26

first week of summer!!! sunday: it’s “fun sunday”! after church, we had lunch at MOD, then went mini-golfing. it was fun, but WAY hot. we were melting into the astroturf. more fun sunday. we grabbed shane (who had been at work all day) and hit the theater to see cars 3! we had all been looking forward to its release. now i’ve seen all 3 in the theater with shane, who was 5 when the first one came out! monday: leaving to take micah to cub scout day camp and we spot THIS! balloon was landing in a vacant lot just under the freeway. so we totally had to pull over and watch. tuesday: second day of day camp. i wound up being a volunteer for the rest of the week, so i got to take some pictures. archery is always a favorite, but they also made “rovers” out of old computer parts, and since the theme was “bug hunters”, they had a tent full of ladybugs for them to go in and explore. micah would have stayed there all day. wednesday: layla’s newest instrument arrived! we are borrowing a saxophone s...

2017–week 23

well, apparently this was the busiest week EVER, and i have no less than 4,000 pictures to deal with. i have no idea how all of these will go in the book, but i will deal with that later. sunday: cross over ceremony for the cub scouts! micah, and the rest of his den, made rank and earned their bear badges. last time as a bear and first time as a webelo. this is tripping me out a little. i swear they were just tigers. how are these kids old enough to be webelos already????   also sunday: oh, that’s just a picture someone snapped of my husband starring in his own motivational poster… especially great is the little girl who appears to be about to cry. *note: don’t play dodge ball with dave.   monday: shane and toby, enjoying some outside (being a real cat) time. and, i accidentally took this awesome picture of the bee.   also monday: shane teaching my dad to use his new mower. also also monday: this is just the way things are around here sometimes… dogs. tuesday: end of seas...

2017–week 12

sunday: pinewood derby day! Dave and his committee pulled off a great event. micah’s car turned out not to be very fast, but he did win the “best hot rod” award that the scouts vote on. that was the one he was going for, so he was happy with that. layla and dave both made cars for the charity race. layla’s was meant to be a bobsled. at the community center, a gal from interstate batteries had one of their race cars there for the boys to have their picture take in. and then there was the after party. we didn’t mean to have a party. it just sort of happened. the weather was super nice, and it all started with eric and martin showing up to help dave unload stuff, which he was already done unloading. except they brought beer. and then andrea came, and martin called his wife, so they came, and then layla went and got her friend and her friend’s brothers and parents from down the street (also scouts), we had a few more including my dad show up and it was a party! it was definitely not warm...
