project life 2014: week 20

sunday: we have a new dog!!!!! meet bonez, the husky! tuesday: bonez meets toby, as depicted by micah… it did not go particularly well. there was a lot of chasing, a lot of yelling, a little bit of peeing, and just a little bit of almost getting eaten… micah thought it was funny. wednesday: yup, it’s the pre-wash cycle. thursday: micah’s sandwich. also thursday: he was ‘exercising’ or ‘getting big muscles’ or something along those lines. friday: recital day! saturday: seattle mom prom was a blast with my MOMS Club friends. sipping champagne through a red vine. yum! some extras of our beautiful boy.

project life 2014: week 18

sunday: a tradition dating back to my childhood. there’s an office park near our church that is (for lack of a better way to put it) built in the middle of a swamp. wetlands, may be a little classier. at any rate, there’s a slough surrounding it, and a lot of the parking lots are frequently flooded. BUT, it makes it a popular place for ducks and geese, and in the spring, you can always find babies! so after church, we went ‘sunday driving’ through the office park in search of ducklings, and were not disappointed. also sunday: family outing to go mini-golfing. we had a blast. we all (well, maybe not dave and shane) totally sucked at it, but it was still fun. tuesday: school skate night at skate king. wednesday: rare spring heat wave meant we had to get out the sprinkler! also wednesday: toby, being a real cat. he was rolling around in the grass like crazy. friday: reading elephant and piggie books before school. saturday: my back’s out. more comfortable on the floor. which is mess...

sunday: we spent the afternoon at amy and adam’s and micah, of course, was super thrilled to get to play with roscoe and dakota. I love that their entire family is trumped by their dogs. tuesday: today at ballet, the parents were invited in to watch class. it was really hard for me to remain seated on the floor and not jump up and join them at the barre. wednesday: I finally got my current project life caught up, so I could get out my new one for next year! dave chose the “rain” edition for me. so fun to get everything in my hands and take a good look at it. setting up the book is really trippy, not knowing what events will fill those pages. friday: SNOW!!!!! we had enough snow to cause a 2 hour delay for the schools, but we just didn’t go at all. that’s where living out of district is a drag, because our local schools were closed. the kids were out as soon as they could get out, and played all morning. of course, shane’s immediate reaction to having snow on the ground was to get o...

sunday: power was still out in the morning, but this was a good sign. finally came back on around 11am. about 26 hours without. also sunday: helping with homework. monday: micah’s soccer party was at round table pizza. he was super excited to have his very own trophy now! tuesday: back to ballet for layla! thursday: shane made this pot and planted this impatien plant in vbs the summer of… 2007? somehow or other, it has stayed alive all this time. one other random time, it even flowered. I may have killed it this time… also thursday: layla is studying her science book and writing notes on post-its. friday: I got to chaperone a field trip for layla’s class to MOHAI. it was so fun. these 6 girls were a great group. saturday: dave and shane were off to home depot at 9am and came back with fence building supplies.

instafriday

so, I know I haven’t done one of these in a long, long time, but I was suddenly inspired. no idea why… at any rate, it’s friday, and here are my small squares for the week… my breakfast. scrambled eggs with ham, kale, and spinach + a delicious smoothie. yum. daddy got layla pink tulips for her first ballet recital. post-morning run. ice, coffee, and {not pictured because it didn’t last long enough to get in the picture] bacon. ballet recital take 2. I was the backstage mom this time. OMG. there were 4 different classes of little girls crammed in this tiny dressing room. like 40 girls and 3 moms. FOR THREE HOURS. oy! after it was over, dave and I went out and I had a BIG margarita. we found this little frog in a bucket in our backyard, so we took him out in the woods where there is some wetland and let him hop away. monday night, I got to take a free adult jazz class at layla’s dance studio. it was fun, but a bit odd because we had a lot of different skill/experience level...
