I’m a firm believer in stopping to smell the roses – they smelled good!528966_3736881653473_1300040235_n

outside of the city hall building, there is this giant statue of jackie robinson’s head. so I took a picture of dave by it… of course, it’s hard to resist picking a nose that big…

and then it was time to say goodbye and head to the airport.

our first flight was on a little prop plane to san jose. we had about an hour between flights so we grabbed an appetizer and some drinks at the airport ruby tuesday… savoring our last few minutes of ‘vacation’.

we got home just fine. shane was waiting up for us, but the littles were already asleep. back to real life.

what’s in my closet? installment #2– “nicer” shirts

these are generally the shirts that I don’t wear so much on a daily basis, for one reason or another… they seem too good to wear around the house? I don’t know. dumb reason. first picture: red/orange babydoll(?) top (forever 21 – via thrift store): I LOVE this top. the ruffles on the top, the eyelet flowers and scallops on the bottom. LOVE it. yes, it looks a tad like a maternity shirt, but I try not to let that bother me. oh, and it’s really long, so that’s a cool something different. I don’t wear it as often as I should because it needs to be ironed. blue vertical stripe western shirt (gap – via thrift store): I like this. it has cool snaps, and nifty lines. same story as the one above as far as why I don’t wear it often. charcoal pleated blouse (the limited – via thrift store): I like this shirt, but it’s seen better days and the pleats don’t stay flat, even with ironing. maybe I’ll try line drying it and see if it helps. if not, it’s going. second picture: pink 3/4 sleeve b

hopes and dreams… or fantasies, perhaps

we all have dreams. things we ponder when we’re doing mundane tasks… things that pop into our minds when we’re doing something, or eating something, or partaking in something that just doesn’t seem quite right. i probably have more of these than most people, because it seems i analyze things more than most people. i don’t know. maybe other people just don’t talk about it as much as i do. i’m always thinking, researching, checking out books or googling things. there are things that bug me about life, and so i try to figure out how i can change them. i had a whole big long rant on here, that i just deleted because these are my things. my issues. i think by putting them out there, it’s just spewing negativity into the world and there’s too much of that already. it doesn’t matter WHY i feel drawn to these things, it doesn’t even really matter that i am. but this is my blog and i can write about what i want. you can read or not read. you can agree or disagree. you can comment or not comment

My favorite holiday

Back in the spring, I posted something somewhere about "clothesline day" being my favorite "holiday". In fact, here's a picture of me on Easter a few years ago, celebrating clothesline day (yes, with a mimosa - it was Easter). Basically, clothesline day is whatever day of the year happens to be the first day that the weather is warm, dry, and breezy enough to allow me to hang out my inaugural load of laundry. It makes me very happy, since, if you have read even a few posts on this blog you know that I am pretty well bonkers about line-dried laundry. I do, very much, love clothesline day. But it's not exactly a REAL holiday. And if I'm honest, I can't really even say that it's my favorite day of the year. That is something totally different: The Day After Thanksgiving. Some would call this day "Black Friday". Not me. Black Friday implies that I like the day because I enjoy getting up at ungodly hours of the night to stand in long lines i

christmas morning

so, I had a few technical difficulties w/ my pictures from christmas. turns out, my iphone camera is not quite as fabulous as I first thought. it still takes great pictures in the church, and will definitely do better in a pinch, but from now on, I’ll be sticking with my point and shoot (until I get my REAL camera!) for daily stuff. first of all, a lot of the pictures came out blurry or grainy without the flash, and with it, there’s like this light aura thing going on that totally washes out the picture. (but don’t worry, I still love my phone!) then, when uploading and attempting to edit the pictures from my phone, I discovered that my computer or the picture files themselves, or both, don’t like each other. more than half of them were unable to be edited because of something to do with the file (I’m so techie!). so I did all the editing in picassa, but now I can’t figure out how to put them in this post FROM picassa, and since I really don’t care that much and don’t want to spend all

vacation hangover GO AWAY!!!!

okay, well i got some of my list done yesterday, (and a little more of it done today). i did manage to get showered and dressed – although, now i need to do it again. the dishwasher got unloaded, reloaded, and run – twice! unfortunately, it now needs to be done AGAIN (sensing a theme here). i went to the meeting, i uploaded the pictures and posted them to facebook… still need to do a post here about the weekend. i went to the grocery store today and did some shopping. unfortunately i didn’t get the menu plan done or the list first, so i spent more than i probably would have otherwise, and i will have to piece together meals from what i bought and what we have. grrr. i’m really kicking myself about this now, but i was OUT, we needed stuff, and i figured i’d better do it then cuz i didn’t want to have to do it later. i picked up some of layla’s room but there is so much more to do and i did 4 loads of laundry yesterday (so i’m pretty sure dave is wearing clean underwear today) but t
