just a tad more progress…

  1. wash lindsey’s sleeping bags and return.
  2. set up tent to air and sweep out all the dirt.
  3. pick raspberries.
  4. check pool, add water.
  5. get skimmer for pool.
  6. clean up stuff in backyard.
  7. clean out cooler and return to mom and dad.
  8. clean bathrooms.
  9. catch up on laundry. (well, mostly. just have one load left to fold and put away.)
  10. fold and put away the pile of sheets that has been in my room for weeks. :)
  11. sweep and mop dining room and kitchen floor.
  12. plan meals and grocery shop for the week.
  13. costco run.
  14. put away all camping stuff in a somewhat orderly fashion.
  15. vacuum rug in garage.
  16. put away doll house in garage and stash toys.
  17. clean mom and dad’s on thursday.
  18. return pei’s lantern.
  19. work on mom’s shawl.
  20. get shane’s bike. (sort of).
  21. pick up library books.

okay, well yesterday wasn’t quite as productive as i wanted it to be. but in my defense, i wasn’t home in the morning or in the evening, and during the middle of the day, i was ‘watching’ shane’s friend over here AND the power went out for about an hour and a half.

so i should have #7 completely done. i cleaned out the cooler, set it on the front porch to dry, drew my dad’s attention to it, and he chose not to take it with him. NOT MY FAULT!

#20 got done, it just needs to get done again… they went to get the bike, paid for it, but couldn’t bring it home because they didn’t have one that was assembled. so the bike shop is building the bike as we speak, and dave is going to pick it up tonight. shane is being VERY patient about it.

i’m not overly optimistic about my progress today. cleaning at my parents’ house will take up a big chunk of the day. but i’m going to take the stupid cooler with me when i go. and i’m going to go pick the raspberries before i leave… just as soon as i finish my coffee!

  1. Looks like you are keeping plenty busy and no, not a real hedgehog. They were little stuffed ones that velcroed onto the wrist. We kept freaking out when we were at the petting zoo part because Hannah would throw the hedgehog and it looked so much like one of the chicks we would dive to catch it every time. :)

playgroup aftermath

we had playgroup here today. lots of fun, lots of MOMS, lots of kids, lots of mess! micah got up this morning before 6 and powered right on through until everyone left at 3. and then at…   we had this: sleepy guy. we had to go pick up shane from the y, so i put him in the car and he napped until we were almost back home. a perfect little nap!

a tribute to layla

i love my daughter. i really do. if i had only 3 words with which to describe her, it would be “full of life”. and she really, really is. she is someone who wants to experience all that life has to offer. i love the age she is too. her excitement about things is always contagious and her ideas hilarious and creative. she’s one of those kids who can’t just paint the paper, and whatever the rules for the game happen to be, they’re too boring and she’s going to play it her own way, darnit!                      there are a few things that come with this fabulous age, however, that i could easily do without. the screaming fit she had today, for example, over a graham cracker. she had the intention of giving it to micah, and broke it in half, even though, the whole time she was doing it, i was telling her NOT to give one to micah because he was having his lunch. i...

another sign

i'm going to have to take more pictures soon, i'm running out. christmas movies! yes, one of them is a bob the builder movie, but the kids deserve to get in on the festivities too, right?  we also have the polar express , but i'm not sure where that was when i was taking the pictures. and a charlie brown christmas , but that's on vhs and our vcr broke, so it will have to be replaced.  i want to just keep building our collection each year.  there are so many fabulous movies! and speaking of, i promised living-under-a-rock-kate a list of the absolute MUST SEE christmas movies... obviously, the ones in the picture (well, you can watch the bob the builder one if you REALLY want to, but i don't really consider that a MUST SEE!). in addition: it's a wonderful life, miracle on 34th street (the real old one, not the new one with the annoying girl), a christmas story, frosty the snowman, santa claus is coming to town, the year without a santa claus, christmas with the...

THAT’S NOT FOOD!

my friend, stephanie , has inspired me with her most recent post. apparently this was a topic on oprah today, i don’t watch her show, but it’s a good topic. my comment on her post (which is great – read it. the post, not my comment.), was quickly turning into a post of it’s own, so i decided to continue my vent here. it probably won’t be as eloquent as hers, but i’m climbing up on the soapbox she just got off of. we eat CRAP! LOTS and LOTS of CRAP!!! as a nation, it astounds me how much non-food we consume. i’ve wondered about this for a long time, but it used to be inspired from an environmental standpoint rather than a nutritional standpoint. i wondered about all the garbage we throw out. it bothered me that you couldn’t go to the store and buy granola bars without also buying a box and 6 wrappers, that would then be thrown away. i wondered why, every time you buy salad dressing or ketchup, you have to buy a new bottle, which would then be thrown away. i wondered why, every tim...

i love bees!

so, i took pictures for this post yesterday and then, upon checking some other favorite blogs, i discovered this on angie’s blog. she totally beat me to it! oh well, i guess it’s a common thing right now. but not to be outdone, here is my post: the bees are just crazy right now. especially on the raspberries, which makes me super duper happy because it means we’ll have a TON of wonderful raspberries this year! as you can see, we have a LOT of them… my patch keeps on growing! and the whole thing is literally alive with bees. you can watch it and it’s constantly moving and buzzing… just a whir of activity! it’s really something to see!    i just love bumblebees! i always say i want them for pets. maybe it’s because they’re so fuzzy! i could watch them for hours.    my rhodies are finally blooming! i love that purple one.
