Road Trip Day 3

Sometime around 12:30 in the morning, we woke up to lots of lightning and loud thunder. That wasn't so bad until the wind picked up and started howling and gusting so hard it was jolting the trailer. We checked the weather app to see that we were under a severe thunderstorm warning, predicting 60 mph winds and quarter-sized hail. We waited a little while before deciding to wake the kids up and moving to the van. The warning was supposed to be lifted by 1:15, but it got extended another hour. We eventually all fell, more or less, asleep in the car. Around 2:45, it seemed like the worst of the storm had passed and we woke the kids up again and went back to bed in the trailer.

Morning was tough.

The rest of the day was uneventful. We had about 7 hours of driving to do, but it was broken up by lunch in Fargo with Jenna, a friend from college.

After that, we drove some more, eventually getting to our campground in Maple Grove, MN shortly after 7.

The campground had a pool that was open until 8, so we quickly grabbed the towels and bathing suits and the kids got to swim for awhile.

After that, they explored the small playground and attempted a contest, swinging on the baby swings.

We had time for a game of Yahtzee after dinner, but didn't wind up finishing because it got pretty late.

We went to bed, having checked the forecast, and feeling pretty confident that we would get to sleep all night.
