big fat nothing

Picture

see all the big welts?  yeah, me neither.  our spectacular appointment with the allergist revealed that layla is allergic to nothing.  so we're back to square one and we know nothing other than that something is causing her bladder issues and we don't know what.  maybe her doctor can put a little pressure on the urologist to see us.  who knows.  and food doesn't seem to be causing her skin issues, nor the rash she gets on her face after eating sometimes.  okay, that's not exactly accurate.  food is causing it, but not an allergy.  she has sensitive skin and when food gets smeared on her face, it irritates her skin.

so, as disappointed as i am that we've gotten nowhere here, i am looking on the bright side that she isn't allergic to something major like wheat or dairy that would create a significant lifestyle change in regards to our diet.  so in that respect, it's good news.  i just really want some answers.

  1. Well, at least you don't have the hell of a child with allergies now. That's always good.

  2. Wheat or dairy. Yeah, allergies to those would suck, lol. Just another bug in your ear. When we dealing with Joey's skin issues his dr. metioned that sometimes its a combination of things that cause a reaction. Not necessarily an alleric reaction, but still. This didn't help us much because it could be 2 or 3 things together. Like the laundry soap combined with the apple juice, combined with the yogurt, that kind of thing.

  3. Oh man,

that is good that you don't have to change your diet and everything
Hope you are able find out what is wrong. I would worry all the time.

  4. Glad to hear the scratch tests came out clean. Good luck figuring out what's going on with her!

what I wore wednesday

iiiiiiiiiiiiiit’s wednesday again!!! which means it’s time for me to brag about all of my incredibly well-thought out and likely expensive fashion endeavors prove to the world that I didn’t wear jammies all week. well, not all week… wednesday: tank: old navy, thrifted cardigan: handmedown jeans: thrifted flip flops: kohls earrings: target scarf: thrifted I was SO excited to find this scarf! it’s gorgeous! very silvery and shimmery, the blue flowers and so cute, AND it’s short! for somebody like me, who is of the not-so-tall persuasion, really long scarfs (or even standard length scarfs) can sometimes be a little overwhelming. you know? it’s like, “how many times can I wrap this thing around my neck before you can’t see my head anymore?” at any rate, this one is awesome and I love it and expect to see it on me a lot! I also found the process of trying to take a picture to be quite entertaining. I have a ‘people dog’, meaning, wherever her people are, that is where she th...

today…

my alarm went off today at 6:10. A full 40 minutes later than usual. Sick days (when you’re not dying and you actually have a pre-arranged sub) are awesome. I went downstairs, poured some coffee with eggnog, made a sandwich for shane, let the dog in, turned on the christmas tree lights, and sat down to catch up on all the excitement that is my FB newsfeed. The highlight is always the “on this day” reel. It’s fun to relive who I used to be. I also read about 2 different friends who have stomach flu going through their houses and made me want to put a plastic haz-mat bubble around the house and not let anyone out. took meds to rid myself of stupid pink eye and sinus infection which are the reason behind my second sick day in a row. after shane left for the bus, I woke up my other kids. micah is still sleeping in his tent. he says he doesn’t want to take it down until the first day of winter. you know, because camping in the winter is not the best idea. layla was not so enthusiastic to ...

a swimsuit RAVE!

I’ve totally been neglecting this blog… you know, I’ve got a new baby, and big sister blog isn’t getting as much attention. sorry. at any rate, something monumental happened today that I MUST report. I bought a swimsuit. it was a pleasant experience. I’m really excited about it. you might remember that about a month ago, I wrote a post ranting about the prospect of shopping for swimsuits. well, today, in target, I had this sudden epiphany. instead of looking at all the flimsy, skimpy, unflattering swimwear, I decided to go look in the workout clothes. I mean, really, they’re basically the same thing. they’re both made of fabric that is meant to dry quickly and not bunch up or get heavy when wet. the only difference is that workout clothes are meant to cover and contain parts of you, while swimwear is apparently supposed to flaunt and expose it. so, I found a cute top and a cute skirt, both of which FIT, and I’m not embarrassed to wear, and didn’t come from a specialty shop, co...

camping 2017 (photo heavy)

yesterday, we returned from a camping trip. it was fun and relaxing and wonderful and all that. this was our second time at this particular camp ground, since we liked it so much the first time we were there, 2 years ago. this time, we reserved a site that backed up against the creek, which was awesome. the only negatives were the burn ban that prevented us from having a fire (again), the fact that our entire family forgot to bring pillows, and the mosquitos – but i’ll get to that bit later. monday: we arrived mid-afternoon and got things set up, explored a bit, and then decided to take a walk down the road to lake wenatchee state park. we wound up finding this little trail that went down to the lake. there were some really nice views. yes, I took my enamel camp cup of moscato with me. when dave said, “let’s go for a walk”, i thought he meant just around the campground…    when passing this sign, shane declared, “hey, there’s wifi!” we all got a good laugh. after our little wa...

what’s in my car?

it’s time to play an exciting round of… WHAT’S IN MY CAR????? (applause) yes, that’s right, this morning, I was incredibly irritated by all the crap that was in my car. SO irritated, in fact, that it was making me a little twitchy. (and I may have yelled at my kids once or twice for less than reasonable things.) it was so bad, in fact, that I decided to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. dun dun DUNNNNNN… and so, after dropping my 3rd (and final) kid off at the 3rd (and final) institute of learning (aka: preschool), I came home and cleaned out my car (instead of taking a nap and/or brewing another pot of coffee, which was what I really wanted to do). when I get bees in my bonnet like this, I’m really bad at remembering to take a “before” picture. although, in this case, it’s probably better that I didn’t. it was BAD. so, we’ll have to have the “after” pictures suffice. and, of course, I have to account for what was actually IN my car before this. keep in mind, this does not include the...
