i'm going to have to take more pictures soon, i'm running out.

christmas movies!

yes, one of them is a bob the builder movie, but the kids deserve to get in on the festivities too, right?  we also have the polar express, but i'm not sure where that was when i was taking the pictures. and a charlie brown christmas, but that's on vhs and our vcr broke, so it will have to be replaced.  i want to just keep building our collection each year.  there are so many fabulous movies!

and speaking of, i promised living-under-a-rock-kate a list of the absolute MUST SEE christmas movies... obviously, the ones in the picture (well, you can watch the bob the builder one if you REALLY want to, but i don't really consider that a MUST SEE!).

in addition:

it's a wonderful life, miracle on 34th street (the real old one, not the new one with the annoying girl), a christmas story, frosty the snowman, santa claus is coming to town, the year without a santa claus, christmas with the chipmunks, elf, dr. seuss' how the grinch stole christmas (the real animated one, not the creepy, over-the-top jim carrey one), a christmas carol (i like the one with george c. scott), the best christmas pageant ever... that's all i can think of right now.  anyone else can feel free to comment and add to the list.

    It's not Christmas for me unless I watch A Christmas Story! Lately I've had to sneak it though... Luke fails to see the humor in it. Maybe I'll strike a deal and watch the National Lampoons with him if he'll watch my movie. :)

    i happen to like both a lot... but i tried to get dave to watch a christmas story with me last year and same thing, he didn't find it funny. hello? what planet are these guys on?

    Oh we should totally have a girls movie night in! Brent hates A Christmas story! I can provide the popcorn and the tv if anyone is interested I can find a night that works! ;)

    Love it, Lindsey! Luke's dad is coming in for two weeks during Christmas... I should be able to get away for a few hours. Might bring the baby, but then again, might just let Daddy and Grandpa give him a bottle and put him to bed. :)

    I need to add Rudolf and Holiday Inn. Believe it or not, I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas was written for Holiday Inn BEFORE White Christmas was made. And for the funny take on A Christmas Carold, I've always liked Scrooged.

    okay, i know everyone LOVES rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, but i left it off the list because it is SO INCREDIBLY SEXIST!!! apparently everyone but me is able to overlook this fact because of the overall nostalgic value of the show, but i just can't do it. good grief, even santa's a chauvenist!

what I wore wednesday

iiiiiiiiiiiiiit’s wednesday again!!! which means it’s time for me to brag about all of my incredibly well-thought out and likely expensive fashion endeavors prove to the world that I didn’t wear jammies all week. well, not all week… wednesday: tank: old navy, thrifted cardigan: handmedown jeans: thrifted flip flops: kohls earrings: target scarf: thrifted I was SO excited to find this scarf! it’s gorgeous! very silvery and shimmery, the blue flowers and so cute, AND it’s short! for somebody like me, who is of the not-so-tall persuasion, really long scarfs (or even standard length scarfs) can sometimes be a little overwhelming. you know? it’s like, “how many times can I wrap this thing around my neck before you can’t see my head anymore?” at any rate, this one is awesome and I love it and expect to see it on me a lot! THAT’S NOT FOOD!

my friend, stephanie , has inspired me with her most recent post. apparently this was a topic on oprah today, i don’t watch her show, but it’s a good topic. my comment on her post (which is great – read it. the post, not my comment.), was quickly turning into a post of it’s own, so i decided to continue my vent here. it probably won’t be as eloquent as hers, but i’m climbing up on the soapbox she just got off of. we eat CRAP! September Meal Plan (& making peace with my Instant Pot)

Yesterday, “monthly meal plan” came up on my digital to do list. The past month or two, I’ve been operating week to week, which is better than nothing, but monthly is one thousand times better. As usual, I was dissatisfied with available methods/templates for this task, so I whipped up my own. I think I love this. Highlighting weekends is important to just give me a little grounding for where we are in the week.  You’ll probably notice a lot of instant pot recipes on there in the first half of the month. I’m still in the middle of my tour de instant pot - the end of which will come at whatever time I determine whether or not the beast gets voted off the island. Lots of people gave me lots of suggestions, plus ones I looked up on my own and people said they wanted to try.
