i'm going to have to take more pictures soon, i'm running out.

christmas movies!

Picture 032

yes, one of them is a bob the builder movie, but the kids deserve to get in on the festivities too, right?  we also have the polar express, but i'm not sure where that was when i was taking the pictures. and a charlie brown christmas, but that's on vhs and our vcr broke, so it will have to be replaced.  i want to just keep building our collection each year.  there are so many fabulous movies!

and speaking of, i promised living-under-a-rock-kate a list of the absolute MUST SEE christmas movies... obviously, the ones in the picture (well, you can watch the bob the builder one if you REALLY want to, but i don't really consider that a MUST SEE!).

in addition:

it's a wonderful life, miracle on 34th street (the real old one, not the new one with the annoying girl), a christmas story, frosty the snowman, santa claus is coming to town, the year without a santa claus, christmas with the chipmunks, elf, dr. seuss' how the grinch stole christmas (the real animated one, not the creepy, over-the-top jim carrey one), a christmas carol (i like the one with george c. scott), the best christmas pageant ever... that's all i can think of right now.  anyone else can feel free to comment and add to the list.

  1. It's not Christmas for me unless I watch A Christmas Story! Lately I've had to sneak it though... Luke fails to see the humor in it. Maybe I'll strike a deal and watch the National Lampoons with him if he'll watch my movie. :)

  5. Love it, Lindsey! Luke's dad is coming in for two weeks during Christmas... I should be able to get away for a few hours. Might bring the baby, but then again, might just let Daddy and Grandpa give him a bottle and put him to bed. :)

    Let's do it!

  6. I need to add Rudolf and Holiday Inn. Believe it or not, I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas was written for Holiday Inn BEFORE White Christmas was made. And for the funny take on A Christmas Carold, I've always liked Scrooged.

  7. okay, i know everyone LOVES rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, but i left it off the list because it is SO INCREDIBLY SEXIST!!! apparently everyone but me is able to overlook this fact because of the overall nostalgic value of the show, but i just can't do it. good grief, even santa's a chauvenist!

it just keeps getting better...

so obviously, from my earlier post, the dinner-making portion of my day was a little less than spectacular.  oh, that was just the beginning. dave worked late today. after dinner, i ran a bath for the younger 2 and in the process of getting them from the dining room to the bathroom, micah knocked the container of cheerios off the table and they dumped ALL OVER the floor.  i scooped up what i could and threw it back in the container, then, mindful that the water was still running in the tub and i didn't want to flood the bathroom, i herded the kids into the bathroom and dumped them into the tub. i went back into the dining room and proceeded to sweep up the mound of cheerios that was left on the floor, all the while keeping an ear open for both voices and giggles in the bathroom (as long as you can hear them, their heads are above water, right?).  that took all of about 2 minutes. i looked in on them (both happy as could be) and discovered that both of my younger...

week 41 in pictures

monday: nothing quite so awesome as construction outside the window at the library. tuesday: a friendly cat came to visit me while waiting at layla’s soccer practice. wednesday: layla’s clay walrus. thursday: apparently this is a doggy diner. friday: because micah had no school, he had to come with me to do my library duties for layla’s class. he got to read books and play games while I shelved books and checked kids out. saturday: ready to get totally spanked by juanita. it was a brutal game. also saturday: check out the totally HUGE mushrooms growing in the woods by my parents’ house.

brownies for breakfast

i love brownies. i went through a BIG brownie binge right before micah was born (as my MOMS club friends can attest to) and i ate them all the time. there were always brownies in the house (unless i had eaten them all). the other day i suddenly got a major hankering for brownies again so yesterday when i was doing my grocery shopping i picked up a box. i couldn't find the ones i really wanted, with the little peanut butter cups in them. yum. but i got the kind with the chocolate chunks... almost as good. the thing that i think is so great about having brownies in the house is being able to cut out a chunk and eat it for breakfast. brownies, first thing in the morning are so great! well, almost first thing. i think my stomach would implode if something other than coffee hit it first. i have to be sneaky though. it's kind of a challenge to keep the kids from seeing me eating brownies. i wouldn't want them to think that brownies are an acceptable breakfast! i...

media purge.

i can really only blame my lack of posts on not having any interesting thoughts or happenings going on, but i will also attribute it to my trying to stay away from the computer as much as possible and remember what i SHOULD be doing instead. i admit that i have a slight facebook addiction. believe it or not, i threaten to delete my account almost weekly. i have a number of reasons for this… generally i do it when i get myself into trouble by making a comment about (what turns into) a controversial topic and wind up offending someone that the comment was never even aimed at… but then i think about the ease of connection i have between family and friends and i decide to stick with it. but the thing that has been bugging me about it lately is that i spend too much time worrying about something as stupid as my facebook account. it’s not that i sit here, all day, on facebook. holy cow that would be boring! i would need to have like 4 million friends in order to have anything new to read, ...
