sunday: CHORES have begun. in preparation for the start of the school year (and because they have been lazy bums for far too long), I finally got the kids chores organized. micah, it turns out, is a crazy good toilet wiper. monday: I had to run to angie’s to borrow something and the kids and I got to try out her spankin’ new zip line! tuesday: new and improved backyard fun… riding your bike through the sprinkler! wednesday: dropped in to visit my mom and got to see her in the middle of a physical therapy session. thursday: someone is just a little bit excited that it’s finally his turn to play soccer. we picked up all the team gear and he was SO excited. friday: layla and micah were in vbs all week and had some fun on the playground after. micah finally mastered the fire pole, and layla is now a bar-skipping monkey. saturday: ah, the dreaded saturday chores. shane learned how to completely clean a bathroom and micah got to vacuum his room (among other things). most of layla’s day

sunday: showing off the balloon animals they got at the obliteride finish line party at magnuson park. monday: shane’s first EVER football practice! tuesday: they heard the ice cream truck, actually scrounged up enough money to buy something, and successfully stopped it! (I was mean because we had to leave right after this to get shane to practice, and I didn’t want them eating popsicles in the hot car, so I made them put them in the freezer until after dinner. the up side of that was that micah didn’t want to eat his dinner [big surprise there], but I threatened to eat his popsicle and he choked it down in minutes! I need to find more ways to exploit this!) wednesday: layla FINALLY got her long, tangly hair cut. she was very nervous and kind of mad at me about the whole thing, but the salon experience was fun (thanks for the recommendation, lisa), the stylist was vey nice and gave her cute heart braids, and she got about 4 inches taken off with some long layers added in. it looks S

sunday: my parents’ house is sold! monday: finally getting caught up on project life. all the way back to before our california trip in june. tuesday: I really don’t know what this is about, other than strange things my kids come up with to do… they are in micah’s room, in the dark. layla is reading “the very quiet cricket” to micah, while he shines his lantern on the book, while sitting IN a doll crib. no idea. friday: we got my mom’s piano moved from their old house to our house. they don’t have room for it in their new house, and my mom has a smaller piano there already. now to get it tuned so it can be played! also friday: this weekend was the “obliteride”, which dave and cole were riding in (180 miles over 2 days) as a fundraiser for cancer research. friday night was the kick off party at gas works park. catered dinner, beer garden, and concert with michael franti and spearhead! it was awesome! so much fun. saturday: the MOMS Club was walking in the celebrate woodinville para

another slightly odd week. on sunday evening, my mom was moved back over to the hospital to await surgery. they decided that doing a minimally invasive surgery and placing 3 screws in the hip, followed by rehab, was the best way to go. monday: back in her room, following surgery. after she was awake, my dad put my mom’s wedding ring back on her finger. he’d had it in his pocket. I watched, and took pictures. it was quite sweet.   also monday: in her sleepy, post-op state, my mom enjoyed a visit from syndney, a golden retriever, making her rounds through the hospital. such a great program. tuesday: layla, micah, and a neighborhood friend, cooling off in the pool and playing some sort of fishing game. also tuesday: so typical. the dog is ALWAYS wanting in and the cat is ALWAYS wanting out… (and the window is ALWAYS dirty…) wednesday: to appease my impatient children, we spent the afternoon at fred meyer buying school supplies (that will sit and wait for a month). they specify t
