what I wore wednesday

so, I missed last wednesday for business, which works in my favor because I don’t have a lot of pictures from this last week, so I can steal the ones I took for last week and never used! I’m starting to enter the “I’m tired of taking pictures of myself and I feel really stupid doing it” phase again, and I also have realized that I like my summer wardrobe a whole lot more than my fall/winter/spring wardrobe, so dressing is kind of depressing now, and not nearly as fun. I’d love to be all excited about boots and scarfs and sweaters and other such accessories like everyone else is, but the fact is that I only have a few of those things and I can’t afford to go out and buy more. so I’m already repeating stuff I’m wearing so posting it seems redundant. ho hum.

some time last week:001

the last of the nice weather!

  • top: thrifted
  • cami: thrifted
  • jeans: thrifted, duh.
  • scarecrow: was my mom’s ;)

some other time last week:012

bad picture. oh well. enter actual fall!

  • sweater coat: g-sale
  • jeans: handmedown
  • scarf: thrifted
  • I know I have a shirt under that sweater, but I can’t see what it is and I never took off the sweater, so it’s irrelevant.
  • shoes: BORN brown mary janes

I can’t even fully express how much I LOVE sweater coats! I’m thinking of replacing the belt on this one with a bright colored ribbon or sash.

last thursday:017

  • blue l/s shirt: target
  • scarf: thrifted
  • corduroy jacket: old navy
  • jeans: not sure
  • earrings: walmart

016

I loved this look. the barista at starbucks complimented my scarf and I tipped him. I also loved the way my hair came out that day… but of course, I haven’t been able to duplicate it…

today (wednesday):055

not sure why the first picture came out so fuzzy. oh well.

  • same corduroy jacket.
  • jeans: gap, thrifted
  • shoes: BORN black mary janes
  • black tunic top: thrifted
  • pink cami: j crew, thrifted
  • sparkly scarf: target057

I really like this outfit, but I’m HATING my hair today. blech! I’ve had this scarf for years and I’ve always loved it. I can’t even remember what possessed me to buy it in the first place (I haven’t always been a ‘scarf girl’). I love how it blings up any outfit!

so there you go, my pathetic attempt at dressing in real clothes over the last 2 weeks. not super. but okay.wiwwWWbutton

tater tot casserole recipe

i realized i forgot to post this last week when we had it.  i actually like it a little better than the hash brown one, but both are good.  it’s VERY similar. once again, this is something i’ve made so many times that i just kind of wing it now, although i do have the recipe that kate sent to me after she made it for my family when micah was born. i like to keep the recipe because it has some little ‘britishisms’ throughout, just like kate! ;-) who, by the way, rocks, having called to check up on me the other evening when she saw that the power in our area was out AGAIN!  thanks kate, smooch smooch! but now i’m getting distracted… big surprise. here goes. you will need: 1 lb or so ground beef (or ground turkey) 1 chopped onion a bunch of veggies (kate’s recipe calls for a ‘tin’ of mixed veggies, but i use fresh carrots & celery if i’ve got’em, frozen beans, peas, corn, whatever).  maybe 2-3 cups. 1 can (or tin) of cream of something soup (i use celery usually

someone googled this stuff and found me!

“you should have your head examined!”

… i just did! yup, yesterday i had the thrilling experience of sitting in a hospital waiting room for 2 hours, followed by another in a trauma room.  no, i don’t think i had suffered any sort of major trauma – i think that’s just what room they had left to stick me in.  i mused about where we would go if they had to kick us out because a ‘real’ trauma situation arose.  thankfully, we didn’t have to learn the answer to that.  i guess i was a traumatic as it got during that window of time. backing up, i wound up in the hospital yesterday because micah threw some clothes on the ground.  the night before i had been folding laundry in the living room.  i had a couple of stacks of ‘hang up’ clothes that were draped over the baby gate in front of the fireplace.                         yes, it’s a christmas picture, but i knew i had it in my stash.  at any rate, there’s the ugly baby gate that the clothes were hanging on.  also notice the wood mantle above it that the nativity set is on.

has anybody seen my blogger mojo?

i think someone must have stolen it.  seriously! i’ve had NOTHING to say for a week now.  me! nothing to say! i didn’t even know that was possible. i have a few things on the back burners, but nothing really to post because it would require uploading pictures off my camera and for some reason, i can’t find the motivation to do it.  sure, i’ll dig all the grass and weeds out of the garden, but plugging a camera into the computer is just too much work.  geez.  well, at least my priorities are straight. for once in my life…

white chicken chili recipe

was just chatting about recipes w/ a friend and realized that i have talked about this recipe, even photographed a bowl of it, but haven’t ever posted it on here. what a shame, because it’s one of my family’s absolute favorites! i got the recipe from my betty crocker cookbook, and it’s one of the first things i ever made for dave and i after we were married. i even have the date written down next to the recipe and a smiley face, indicating we liked it. =) i actually don’t mess with this recipe too much, so here goes… i usually make a double batch so i can freeze some and still have leftovers. it freezes really well, so it’s a nice thing to have on hand. 1/4 cup butter 1 large onion, chopped 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped (or pressed) 4 cups of cooked chicken (chopped, cubed, shredded, whatever – sometimes i just throw in a couple of the cans of chicken they sell in a 6 pack at costco, if i have them on hand and don’t have any cooked chicken handy) you could also use turkey 3 cup
